We used homemade audio communication flashlights as signal transmitters and receivers. Each flashlight is equipped with four high-power white light-emitting diodes and a photodetector for various functions such as audio input, modulation, and reception. The audio communication flash-light operates in two modes: transmission mode and reception mode. In the transmission mode, the flashlight can convert voice signals input through a microphone into optical signals for transmission. In the reception mode, the speaker plays the audio signal received by the photodetector in real time.
