Supplementary material provides additional information relevant to the mechanical modeling, rehabilitation outcomes, and bone healing responses. They include: (1) application and visualization of spatially varying pressure on the proximal rat femur, (2) regression analysis of contralateral limb bone volumes, (3) effects of rehabilitation and housing conditions on longitudinal running activity, (4) relationships between local shear strain distributions and subsequent bone volume, (5) correlations between strain in mineralized and non-mineralized tissues and defect bone volume, (6) radiographs showing defect-size-dependent healing outcomes, and (7) fixation plate microstrain measurements used to inform finite element model boundary conditions.
